Through its “Operation Thank You” program, the Borough of Belmar, New Jersey, provides free beach access to active-duty military personnel, disabled U.S. military veterans, and Gold Star families.
In addition, Belmar businesses that participate in Operation Thank You provide special offers and shopping discounts to members of the U.S. armed forces and veterans in appreciation of their service.
Eastern Lines Surf Shop on Ocean Avenue in Belmar has been involved with, and an advocate for, Operation Thank You since it was launched in 2015-16 by the Belmar Tourism Commission.
"I am a firm believer that we all should support and thank our military and first responders for all they have done and continue to do," says Eastern Lines owner Don Tarrant, who has operated his Ocean Avenue business since 1981. "I think it's our duty to thank them for their service in any small way that we can."
Look for the "Operation Thank You, Belmar" decal on the door or window of participating Belmar businesses. Special offers and discounts vary by business.
